Simulation of Bay-Shaped Shorelines after the Construction of Large-Scale Structures by Using a Parabolic Bay Shape Equation

Among the various causes of coastal erosion, installation offshore breakwaters is considered main cause that influences most serious changes in shorelines. However, without a proper means for predicting such terrain changes, countries and regions continue to suffer from aftermath development projects on land. It has been confirmed parabolic bay shape equation (PBSE) can accurately predict shoreline under wave climate diffracted as result projects. This study developed change model enhanced previous models by applying PBSE into bay-shaped features. As an analytical comparison with second term GENESIS model, which existing well-known similar beach erosion width was obtained small slope. slope became larger, smaller than model. The validity verified it satellite images demonstrated occurrence caused seaports eastern coast Korea; Wonpyeong beach, Yeongrang Wolcheon beach. result, each studied site converged static equilibrium planform within several years. Simultaneously, enabled management arrangement evaluate how construction structures creating wavefields.
